Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy does not need a congratulatory message from colleague Shatta Wale to validate his 2017 Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards nomination.
The ‘Go Higher‘ act told Doreen Andoh on JOY FM Tuesday morning “a lot of people sent in tweets… a number of posted it up…” and that’s all that matters.
Stonebwoy is competing with Wizkid (Nigeria), Davido (Nigeria), Tekno (Nigeria), AKA (South Africa), Nasty C (South Africa), Mr Eazi (Nigeria), and Babes Wodumo (South Africa) for the Best International Act – Africa award.
He also spoke about the lack of unity which is costing the music industry.
“We don’t have to be friends but we should also remember that we are doing the same business so if we can. On the professional side of things, all things come together to make it work – the rumours, the fights – but how professional are we about that?”
The rivalry between the two acts has been heightened with Stonebwoy being the only Ghanaian to snag a 2017 Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards nomination.
Shatta Wale’s attempt to rubbish the awards scheme has been met with scorn by people who troll him for being a local champion.
