Huddersfield manager David Wagner is prepared to launch a £4.5 million swoop for Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyeman Badu.
If the move happens, Agyeman Badu will be the 10th signing since the Terriers got a Premier League promotion from the Championship.
Sources say Wagner has kept eyes on the 26-year-old Udinesse player when he was involved in a pre-season match for his side.
Agyeman Badu has been praised by the German coach for his ball-winning ability but the manager is currently assessing the strength of his squad before deciding if more new buys are needed for the top flight battle ahead.
Huddersfield face a competition to sign him as Middlesbrough, who were relegated from the EPL, also want a move for the former U-20 world cup winner to help the team return to the top flight instantly.
The former Berekum Arsenal star has three years more on his contract with the Serie A side but hopes to move to the Premier League after playing for his current team for about seven seasons, being involved in more than 161 matches and scoring 10 goals.
“I am ready to play in the English Premier League whenever a better opportunity pops up,” the dynamic midfielder said in an interview.
He has played for the Black Stars 76 times and scored about 11 goals since his debut in 2008.
