The former chief executive of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Herbert Mensah has expressed his condolence to the club for the tragedy that befell it on Wednesday night.
In a short video to commiserate with the club, the former Kotoko boss said the news of the terrible accident which claimed a life and left many injured came to him as a shock and his heart is heavy.
“It is with great sadness that I heard the news of the tragedy that befell our great club”, he sympathized.
The club was returning to their base in Kumasi in the Ashanti region when their bus was involved in that fatal accident.
Mr. Mensah who is currently not in the country believes the whole Kotoko has been plunged into sorrow following the incident.
“You know, late last night I got a call about the tragedy that involved our bus. I say ‘our bus’ because it’s a family thing,” Mr. Mensah who is the President of Ghana Rugby Union noted.
For his reaction, he said, it is that of sorrow, support and respect for the family of the deceased and the entire Kotoko family. He believes their grieving is a demonstration of solidarity and that same solidarity he believes should strengthen and unify the club, its supporters and Ghanaians at large. He encouraged the club to stand strong and move the club forward.
The voice of Herbert Mensah comes to add to the many messages of support and well wishes from the public. The president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo , the former president John Dramani Mahama and the captain of the Black Stars, Asamoh Gyan had earlier sent messages of support to the club.
