President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo believes his government is on course in developing sports by pursing the passing of the Legislative Instrument for the Sports Act as well as constructing pitches and also to create the long awaited Sports Fund.
Mr. Akufo-Addo in his second State of the Nation Address to parliament on Thursday, February 8 said “this year we will continue the process LI for the National Youth Sports act, pursue the enactment of the draft of the National Sports College bill.”
“Create a Sports Fund to improve development in the country. We have begun the rehabilitation of the Accra Sports Stadium also known as Ohene Djan Sports Stadium.
“In partnership with the Inner City and Zongo Development Ministry and the Ghana Football Association, we are constructing a number of football pitches in the Zongos and across the rest of the country to aid the revival of colts football.
“This has been responsible for the production of talents like Abedi Pele and Tony Yeboah,” he noted.
