The Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has announced that government has secured $30million for the Yendi Water expansion project in the Northern Region.
According to the Vice President that would help expand the Yendi water system to address the perennial water shortage faced by the people of Yendi and its surrounding communities, especially during the dry season.
The Vice President said this when he paid a courtesy call on the Regent of Dagbon, Kampakuya-Naa Yakubu Abdulai Andani at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi on Thursday.
He said the water situation in the area was a peculiar challenge which the Akufo-Addo administration intends to resolve anytime soon.
Dr Bawumia noted that government had reduced the price of fertiliser to ensure affordability for farmers in order to increase yield.
He also re-echoed that the free Senior High School policy would be implemented in the next academic year beginning September 2017.
