Reigning queen of Ghana’s Most Beautiful, Zeinab will this Saturday launched a project that will see her take a front role in the fight against maternal mortality in Ghana especially in the three regions of the north.
The project forms part of her responsibility as the 2017 winner of the television reality show organised by TV3 to showcase the rich culture of the 10 regions in the country.
Zeinab will execute the project through her foundation, the Mayurlim [Mother’s love] Foundation.
“My project is basically based on maternal mortality and I’m trying to reduce maternal mortality in the three northern regions especially, but aside that in Ghana”, she told 3FM on Thursday.
She explained she chose to focus more on the regions in the north she comes from the area.
Zeinab represented the Northern Region in the 2017 GMB and shrugged off stiff competition from nine other contestants to wear the coveted crown, which has over the years been the envy of many young Ghanaian women.
She demonstrated her passion to serve society, especially in helping to fight the menace of maternal mortality during the 13 weeks that the GMB programme.
Her interest in the fight against maternal mortality even became more evident at the grand finale where she staged a compelling performance and rallied support to help fight the menace.
Zeinab said her research has shown that a lot needs to be done to support the health needs of the people within the three Northern Regions.
She underscored the need for challenges to access to health facilities to be addressed.
She observed the overall lack of health facilities and equipment in the northern part of Ghana was not helping the fight, but expressed interest in helping to fix those problems through her project.
The queen is optimistic that with the support of her Mayurlim Foundation, she can help reduce maternal mortality.
Zeinab also noted that partnership with individuals, interest groups, Non-Governmantal Organizations and Corporate Ghana will go a long way to help her realize the objective of the project.
