The National Disaster Management Organisation (Nadmo) dispatched a team as part of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s delegation to Sierra Leone on Saturday.
The trip is to send relief items to victims of last Monday’s mudslide that claimed over 400 lives and left thousands displaced.
Ghana’s relief items worth $1 million were delivered to President Ernest Bai Koroma on Saturday.
Dr Bawumia added – in a tweet – that the Nadmo officials will be “on the ground to provide assistance”.
There is a search for survivors though hopes are fading by the day.
Dr Bawumia indicated that Ghana’s officials will train their Sierra Leonean counterparts on disaster management.
He was accompanied on the trip by Minister of Interior Ambrose Dery, Minister of Information Mustapha Hamid and Minister of Defence Dominic Nitiwul.
There were also some deputy ministers.
Nadmo’s operation in the disaster-struck West African nation is dubbed ‘Operation Save Freetown’.
