Ghana’s U-17 women’s team, the Black Maidens, booked one of the three places for Africa at the 2018 FIFA Women’s World Cup in grand style on Sunday.
The Maidens beat their counterparts from Djibouti 10-0 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in the second leg of their final round qualifier.
The first leg – played a fortnight ago – had ended 0-9 in favour of the Ghanaians.
Ghana’s qualification is the sixth in a row.
Cameroon and South Africa will be the other representatives for the continent at the tournament to be hosted by Uruguay.
It is scheduled to be held from November 13 to December 1.
So far, New Zealand, Japan, North Korea and South Korea have joined Africa’s representatives and the hosts as qualifiers for the tournament.
