Think you’ve heard the weirdest reasons for deportation of immigrants from a country, wait till you hear this. A Ghanaian man has been deported from Belgium to his country ‘because he wasn’t gay enough’.
Belgium authorities put asunder a gay couple who have been together for a period of two years. Boyfriend Jurgen Hendrickx issued a public plea for help on Wednesday after his partner, Festus was sent to Ghana – a country where homosexuality is illegal.

According to Mr Hendrickx, ‘immigration in Belgium didn’t want to believe he was gay’ and ‘refused to let him stay despite being given evidence.
The couple went as far as providing authorities with photos of their past relationships with other men, to prove they’re fully gay. While Hendrickx ‘s proofs were acknowledged, that of his Ghanaian boyfriend, however, did not clear the doubts of Belgian authorities. According to him, “Immigration in Belgium don’t want to believe he is gay, they say he is not gay enough”
The mere thought of this Festus’ stay in Ghana not only cares but terrifies the couple as the West African country considers homosexual acts illegal. Residents in the country face up to three years in prison if convicted of being gay. The couple has been heartbroken and has sought ways to deal with their present predicament.
There’s more… Jurgen Hendrickx while interacting with the media, revealed he is autistic and it’s not easy for him to find love. For this reason, he has remained undeterred by the challenging outcome as he hopes to travel to Ghana to see his lover.
Under Ghanaian criminal law, same-sex sexual activity among males is illegal. According to country’s criminal code, unnatural carnal knowledge is sexual intercourse with a person in an unnatural manner or with an animal.
