Actor David Prince Osei claims Ghanaian celebrities borrow clothes to ‘slay’ at events and on red carpets. Osei made the allegation during a discussion about the ‘Slay Industry’ on blogger ZionFelix’s Instagram account.
“What is your name and achievement in the industry to flaunt borrowed garments and accessories??When you don’t even have a movie role??” asked Osei.
He also backed Yvonne Nelson’s call on the need to work towards the revival of the Ghanaian movie industry.

When there are no quality productions to submit for awards??There’s absolutely nothing wrong with glitz,glamour,flamboyance bla bla we all do it..but that can only be relevant when you have made a name and have great influence..That is what happens in Hollywood and even Nigeria..You celebrate success not mediocre. This is the reason why everyone desperate borrowing clothes to make a mark on the Red carpet, there’s a mad Euphoria to just slay and be popular on social media with no work put to it. Ghana fashion review reacts to Yvonne Nelson’s slaying comment: Slayers will always slay! @yvonnenelsongh is totally wrong and she misunderstood the Era we are now! The Era of showbiz glamour sparkling across the Oscar’s, Grammy, golden globes, befta, cannes film festival, Venice film festival, Berlin film festival, AMVCA, etc. It’s absolutely wrong to suggest that slaying or red carpet glamour killing movie industry in Ghana? I think it has rather added the missing link into the Showbiz industry and it should be maintain. Look at what Zylofon Media alone is doing for showbiz industry in Ghana! Slaying is the only element to generate public interest in showbiz industry, and that’s why Nigerian stars including omotola,Rita Dominic, genevieve, mo abudu etc do take their red carpet appearances seriously they are also considered bigger showbiz icons globally and because they understood the need to take themselves seriously before the public can take them serious! Long and short is that Ghana Movie is not declining thanks to companies like Zylofon and co it’s making some progress, we are hopeful many others will come on board soon to compliment it! @yvonnenelsongh has done her best over the years for movie industry in Ghana, but it’s obvious now a days because of social media influence and also times has change so public expectations in showbiz are beyond only movie casting.

Actress Nana Akua Addo’s response to Yvonne Nelson’s criticism of the Ghanaian movie industry smacks of a person who is “shallow,” says the latter.
Addo wrote a scathing response targeted at Nelson, after her Sunday morning rant about the growth or otherwise of the industry.

Actress and movie producer Yvonne Nelson is barking up the wrong tree in her quest to help the ailing Ghanaian movie industry, says actor and Director Kobi Rana.
Rana shared his thoughts on the ranging controversy about actresses concentrating on looking good on red carpets instead of finding or creating jobs in the industry.
“WHAT PEOPLE WEAR for events is not your problem or the industry problem. ENVY, HATE, DISUNITY and unnecessary competition are some of the problems aside lack of funds and distribution.” wrote Rana.
Nelson created a storm of a sort, criticizing her colleagues for failing to help the industry, concentrating instead on ‘slaying’ on red carpets.

Reinventing oneself is the way to go instead of complaining about people who ‘slay’ for events or Social media, says actress Nana Akua Addo.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, Addo hit back at actress and movie producer Yvonne Nelson for criticizing her colleague actresses on Sunday morning, hours after the 2017 Golden Movie Awards ended.
“Listen,let’s put in same energy to bring back the dead industry rather than slay on carpets cuz truthfully y’all know there’s no work!” read one of Nelson’s tweets.
Addo’s post started as a lecture of a sort about what ‘Red Carpet’ is.

Actress and Movie Producer Yvonne Nelson has slammed her colleague actresses and the organizers of the Golden Movie Awards.
In a series of tweets Sunday morning, she lashed out colleague actress for their inability to see that “the industry has lost it’s (sic) way” because they all they want to do is “slay” and be posted on Social Media.
Nelson also wondered why Mimi Andani “a reality star…turned musician… turned designer….turned event organizer!!!” is the brain behind the awards scheme, whilst admitting she is “doing something with her life.”
The rant came hours after this year’s awards scheme end. Nigerian s swept away a number of awards with their Ghanaian colleagues lagging behind.
