Reggae and Dancehall artiste, Epixode, has advised fellow Ghanaian musicians to be original in doing music.
According to him, the current trend of songs in the music industry does not depict originality.
This, he said, was a result of copying blindly.
“The upcoming artistes always want to copy blindly, “I think we should stay original that’s the key,” he said.
Epixode said this in an interview with AJ Sarpong on the Zone, on Accra based Starr FM.
He explained that “Now everybody wants to sing like Mr. Eazi which is quite bad for us. We don’t appreciate ourselves…we don’t appreciate any talent that comes from here… As much as we want to get to the next level, staying original is the only way we can stop saying Nigerian music is making waves than Ghanaian music because a Nigerian artiste would always want to use Ghana as a stepping stone to relate to the world”.
He continued that, “if Ghanaian musicians value and appreciate each other, they would be celebrating the likes of Terry Bonchaka and others due to the impact they made in the music industry”.
Epixode further said that in order to change things, there is the need to have a united front.
“Ghana does not need international artistes to get its stadium packed with fans, we can get two local artistes and the place will be packed,” he stated.
