The battle for relegation is fast gaining grounds with Elmina Sharks and Bolga All Stars ready to give their all when both teams clash at the Nduom Sports Stadium in Week 21 of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
With ten more matches left to end the season, a further drop in points for both sides could stall their pursuit in continuing in the league next season.
Bolga All Stars are currently rooted at the bottom of the league log with 12 points while the Fearsome Sharks are reeling in the 14th position, two points adrift with Great Olympics who are eager in winning against defending champions, Wa All Stars to boost their chances of escaping demotion to division one.
Bolga All Stars secured a 1-0 victory over Sharks in the first round and are in extreme pursuit to clinch a double over Sharks who have been very dominant playing at home. Though interim coach, Yaw Acheampong and assistant Felix Aboagye have not impressed since taking over the club, nothing short of a victory will be demanded of them to enhance their chances of avoiding relegation.
Their last two encounters with Hearts of Oak and West African Football Academy (WAFA) have ended terribly as they lost 2-0 and 1-0 respectively stretching their winless string of matches to four.
In Obuasi, AshGold would be expected to continue their resurgence form when they face league leaders WAFA at the Len Clay stadium. The Miners have surprisingly revived their performance since C. K Akunnor took over as the head coach.
AshGold under Akunnor have won four straight matches scoring eight and conceding none.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko will also return to their favourite Baba Yara stadium to face Medeama SC after just a week of silencing arch rivals Hearts of Oak to win the 2017 President Cup for the second time while second placed Aduana Stars are optimistic of beating Liberty Professionals when the pair clash at the Nana Agyeman Badu stadium in Dormaa.
Accra Hearts of Oak will be expected to mount a formidable comeback from their defeat at home to AshGold to settle scores with Bechem United at the Nana Gyeabour’s Park in Bechem while Berekum Chelsea will fancy their chances of securing maximum points at home against Inter Allies.
