The Ghana Police Service has announced it will on Monday, November 20, 2017, begin a general recruitment exercise to get qualified Ghanaians interested in law enforcement into the Service.
Interested persons would be required to fill an online application form on the Ghana Police official website effective Monday, a statement signed and issued Friday by the Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police, DSP Sheila Kessie Abayie-Buckman said.
Graduates who applied in September 2016 are not required to apply, the statement said, explaining that “qualified applicants have already been shortlisted and would be contacted in due course.”
Persons seeking to join the Service will, however, be required to satisfy some general basic requirements; be a Ghanaian citizen of good character and without a criminal record and should not have been dismissed from any public service or any other employment.
Applicants must also be 5ft 8inches tall for males and 5ft 4inches for females should be physically and mentally fit by Ghana Police standards, be able to speak and write fluent English, be knowledgeable in basic computer application and have active email account as well as phone number.
Further, applications would be required to satisfy other requirements for the category they apply for – General duty recruits, tradesmen recruitment, graduates (General duty) and graduate professionals.
The Police said it has not contracted any individual or agency to recruit on its behalf in the exercise, noting all that interested applicants would have to do is to purchase a voucher from any GCB Bank branch nationwide at GHC50 and use same for the online application.
“The public must also note that there are no middlemen in the Police recruitment process, advertised categories are not for sale and there are no protocol forms,” the statement reminded the public.
It added “All Applicants would be given equal opportunity. Thus, no person should allow him/herself to be deceived of preferential treatment by agents or middlemen. Such persons are swindlers”.
It has consequently warned persons may parade themselves as agents or middlemen or intends to stop forthwith.
“Anyone who does so would be arrested and prosecuted. No person should pay money to any individual or group with the view of facilitating recruitment into the Ghana Police Service,” it warned
The statement said persons who facilitate recruitment do so at their own risk and are liable for arrest and prosecution.
“Anybody with information on agents or middlemen in the Police recruitment process should consider the purported agent or middleman a swindler and report to the nearest police station,” it said.
