The 13th African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) ceremony took place over the weekend as Ghana missed out laurels on the night.
The event, which was hosted by Nse Ikpe Etim, was held at the Eko Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.
Winners included Akin Omotoso, who won the best director award, Nkem Owoh, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award, “76” which won the Lagos State Best Nigerian film award.
Jahwar Soudani’s role in “Last of Us” earned him the Award For Best Actress in a Leading Role.
“Felicite,” which emerged the biggest winner of the night, won the AMAA 2017 Best Film.
For his part, the much-attended movie dubbed: “Keteke” produced by Peter Sedufia secured 3 nominations on the night.
According to him, “hi people, team KETEKE was at the AMAAs. Unfortunately, we didn’t bring the awards home.
“…But, I must say I’m glad, and very excited for this feat. To have a debut film nominated in such a prestigious award scheme, and is in same category with some of the industry’s existing best of the best, he said”.
He added that: “I am honoured. Thank you all for your support, and thanks to my casts and crew. I’m truly inspired to make an even better film than KETEKE. We will grow together. If you’ve been busy travelling around the world and haven’t seen Keteke yet, it is coming soon on four (4) major international airlines and other platforms in September for your turn”.
