Three suspects have been arrested by the Atomic-Kwabenya Police in connection with the murder of Nii Tetteh Sarbah, a development chief at Ardayman, near Amasaman, in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
He was killed on Thursday June 8 by thugs.
The suspects were picked on the night of Monday June 12 at the Richview Hotel near at Kwabenya where they were hiding, according to reports.
An unlicensed pistol and a knife thought to have been used in committing the crime, were found on them. They were also possessing two yellow unlicensed motorbikes – one BMW-branded and the other a Suzuki.
On Monday June 12, the brother of the deceased, Samuel Akwetey Otoo, told Class FM that Nii Sarbah was performing some purification rites towards the lifting of the ban on noisemaking at the Ardayman Stool House when some youth entered the compound at about 1am and starting shooting sporadically.
He said the perpetrators chased the chief into a room and dragged him out, using machetes and stones to inflict wounds on him, after which they shot him in the stomach and around the eye.
Others who were with him sustained injuries in the process, with one person who was also shot in the chest receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital.
