Frequent dancing by human beings is a good thing to do.
This, according to Disc Jockey (DJ) of Kizomba Ghana, a dancing entertainment group, Mr. Ken Goh, helps to reduce excessive fatigue and stress.
Speaking to journalists during a dance therapy organised by Kizomba Ghana and Accra City Hotel in Accra over the weekend, Mr. Goh stressed that there is a mutual health benefit in frequent dancing.
He, therefore, called on Ghanaians, particularly the working force, to develop the culture of regular dancing exercises. The event was highly participated by a huge number of male and female workers from public and private institutions including non-governmental organisations.
Dubbed: “Thank God it is Friday Dance Therapy,” according to the organisers of the programme, it was designed to be held on every Friday in Accra to promote body fitness for workers.
Mr. Goh, who doubles as the instructor of the event, further called on Ghanaians to carry out more physical exercises through dancing and also control their eating habits in order to remain healthy at all times. According to him, good nutrition in addition to undertaking exercises for total body fitness would not only keep the body healthy but increase productivity.
In his opinion, Mr. Goh stated categorically that “it is not only running and physical jogging types of exercises that could help human beings to gain total body fitness but a healthy body can be achieved through frequent dancing.” He pointed out that “the human body was like a machine that adapts to situations, especially in the form of exercise, and has the capacity to perform, adding that the fewer demands you placed on it, the weaker it becomes.”
According to him, many overweight people bemoaned the fact that the less they eat the more they gain weight and they attributed their problems to a ‘slow’ metabolism. Mr. Goh expressed the hope that the people in the could would cultivate the habit of dancing exercises in order to improve upon their mental, physical, spiritual and social wellness.
