The wife of Former Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, Matilda Amissah-Arthur, as part of helping the less privileged in society donated assorted fruits and food stuff, medical equipment and some orthopaedic materials to the staff and children of the Nsawam Orthopaedic Training Centre in the Eastern Region.
A friend to the Orthopaedic Training Centre, Mrs Amissah-Arthur was welcomed to the Center by the Sister-in-Charge, Elizabeth Newman.
Mrs. Amissah-Arthur commended the hospital and staff for the good job they have been doing and encouraged them to do more to ensure quality healthcare that Ghana needs.
Sister Elizabeth Newman (SSND) is the Director Educator and Administrator with over 25 years of experience, having been committed to improving the lives of the physically challenged and dedicated to helping children reach their highest potential.
She has since 1975 been responsible for the day-to-day management of the Center.
The Orthopaedic Training Centre (OTC) was established by the Divine Word Missionaries in 1961.
Mrs. Amissah-Arthur says her first visitation to the Centre was at the request of Father Campbell of the Christ the King Parish.
She said she was told of how the Center trains patients how to use their orthopedic appliances, trained young people how to manufacture all the appliances needed by the physically challenged and the usage of leg braces, shoes, artificial limbs, splints and crutches.
She expressed how she was touched by the services rendered at the Center and wants to pay them regular visits and see how the children are doing, having made friends already.
As a crusader for environmental cleanliness, Mrs Amissah-Arthur lauded the authorities for a wonderful job done on the neatness and cleanness of the facility with strict environmental cleanliness.
She also used the opportunity to acquaint herself with how the school provides assertive devices for persons with physical and mobility disability and patients with orthopedic needs.
Sister Newman thanked her for her the gesture especially in the area of providing resources for quality healthcare delivery in the country and urged her to continue with her good works.
