A total of 961 food vendors in the Techiman North District of the Brong Ahafo Region, have undergone a thorough free health screening at Tuobodom to ascertain their health condition.
The beneficiaries were examined for typhoid and high blood pressure, and taken through hand washing and hygienic sale of food, in an exercise organised by the environmental health service of the District Assembly.
Mr. John Asamani, the Techiman North District Environmental Officer, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Tuobodom that the exercise was conducted within two weeks.
He said there was the need to ensure that food vendors were healthy at all times and they conducted their activities in a clean environment to avoid contamination of food.
Mr Asamani advised the food vendors to adopt regular hand washing to ensure that the food they sell to the general public is healthy.
He called on the drinking and chop bar operators to send their attendants for regular medication and check-ups.
