Five persons have been arrested in connection with Monday’s murder of a military officer at Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region, the Police in the region has announced.
No woman is among the five suspects.
A total of 50 people were rounded up by the Central Regional Police Command for interrogation during which the five, whose identity are yet to be disclosed, were found to have questions to answer on the incident that has received condemnation by Ghanaians.
The Central Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Irene Oppong, who spoke on Onua FM’s Ghana Dadwene said the five suspects are being sent to Police Regional headquarters in Cape Coast for further interrogation.
“Security situation is under control after a meeting with the District Security Council (DISEC), the police and the military this morning” ASP Oppong said.
“We have screened them all and five of them are suspects so we have handed them over to Cape Coast Police while the rest have been freed”.
Commenting on evidence with which the Police is going to work with, she said all the videos and pictures on the social media would be used as part of the evidence for the case.
“We don’t want their names to be out for now but there are all males,” she explained.
