Reverend Joseph Obodai, a Retired Minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), on Sunday urged fathers to fortify themselves with the word of God to enable to withstand the challenges that come with fatherhood.
He said fatherhood was a “profession” that was crucial in building a child’s self-esteem, emotional stability and mental health, as well as ensuring a stable family.
Rev. Obodai was preaching to commemorate the Men’s Sunday at the Gethsemany Congregation of the PCG at Achimota in Accra which also coincided with the Fathers Day celebration.
He said Christian fathers must endeavour to abide by the doctrines of their faith; which is to do the will of God, adding; “surrender your lives to God and He shall never disgrace you.”
He said: “The word of God is so powerful that when you declare it with faith, it shall surely manifest and perform wonders in your lives.
Take hold of it and use it to change your circumstances. Don’t go to people to bathe you with oil, you will gain nothing from that.”
Rev. Obodai urged fathers to be responsible, take good care of their families, and never abandon their children because that is distasteful to God.
He said Christians must be hospitable and kind to others and avoid actions that would bring disgrace to God.
“Build attitudes that are pleasing in the sight of God and win more souls for Christ through your actions,” he said.
