English-born Ghanaian young and uprising footballer, Edward Nketiah has been handed a long-term contract by Arsene Wenger, following his impressive form at Arsenal senior team.
Popularly known as Eddie Nketiah, the 18-year-old is one of the three youngsters who have just committed their futures to Wenger’s side by penning down new long-term deals with the club.
Although Eddie had previously made impressive performances at Wenger’s side, he particularly shot to fame when he came off the bench to score two goals in Arsenal’s EFL Cup win over Norwich in November. Nketiah’s goal had sent the Gunners into the quarter-final of the Carabao cup tournament, earning him Arsene Wenger’s admiration.
He has therefore been rewarded with a long-term contract to keep him at the Emirates Sports Stadium. The young striker has at the moment, made four appearances for Arsenal at the senior team level.
Born in London on the 30th of May 1999, Edward Nketiah started his career with Chelsea but was sent off by the Blues at the under-14 level in 2015 on the grounds of physical weakness. The Arsenal Academy however, opened its doors to the young player the same year, providing him a conducive platform to work on his form.

Eddie Nketiah who improved very fast, ended the 2015/16 season as top scorer for the U-18s, scoring 24 goals in 28 appearances. He subsequently made his debut at Arsenal’s senior team for this season in the UEFA EUROPA League against BATE Borisov in September, 2016. This was followed by an incredible performance in November where the English striker scored all three goals in Arsenal’s 3-0 win against Leicester.
At the end of the 2016–17 season, Edward Nketiah has already scored 15 goals in 16 appearances for the U-18s while also bagging 12 goals in 26 appearances for the under-23 side.

Coming to his international career, Nketiah made his debut for England at the under-18 level. Just last month [November], the 18-year-old put up a sensational display when he scored four goals for England’s U-19 team in their 6-0 win against Faroe Islands. He has so far made a total of 8 appearances for England’s National team, two for U-18 and six for U-19.
Edward is currently rated by England football, having scored seven goals in his six appearances for the U-19 side in 2017.
