For his effort in promoting the culture and values of the Zongos through his music, Dancehall artiste Fancy Gadam will be honoured by the National Commission on Culture(NCC) tomorrow at the National Theatre.
In addition to the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards New Artiste of the Year, other personalities who have in diverse ways supported the development of Zongo communities will be awarded at the event dubbed Zongofest Honours.
The Zongofest Honours follows the three-day Zongofest festival which celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the Zongo communities two weeks ago. Activities that will mark the day include a beauty pageant to crown Miss Zongofest, a dance competition and music performances.
In an interview with the Daily Graphic, the Executive Secretary at the NCC, Socrate Safo said the day would be busy with a lot of activities.
“The people of the Zongo communities have a lot to offer and I am happy Ghanaians are now seeing the other side of them because a lot of negative things have been said about Zongo people,” he said.
Fancy Gadam told the paper he was happy to be honoured by the NCC for his effort.
“It will be fireworks on Sunday. I am going all out on Sunday and I want Ghanaians to come in their numbers” Fancy Gadam said.
