The fake Koforidua police officer who was arrested few days ago has been sentenced to 8 years imprisonment by the Koforidua Circuit Court ‘A’.
The fake Koforidua police officer who is identified as 25-year-old Prince Baah was charged with impersonation, theft and public deception of an officer. He pleaded guilty to all the charges, leading to his express conviction and 8-year jail sentence.
Prince Baah was on Monday, September 25, arrested in his hideout in Okorase, near Koforidua for impersonation and unlawful possession of police outfits and accoutrements.
This was after the Police was tipped that Baah, who allegedly claimed to be a policeman from Kumasi but on leave, was spotted wearing a police uniform in Koforidua.
Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr Ebenezer Tetteh, told Daily Graphic that policemen who conducted a search in the suspect’s room found a black police uniform, a blue-black police uniform, a blue-black police beret, a tag bearing the name Prince Baah with identification number 5072 and a pair of black boots.
They also found a bayonet, specimen charge sheets, a police belt with ammunition porch containing two body sprays, which is said to resemble pepper spray and a police flash light.
It was discovered during the suspect’s interrogation that he acquired some of the items from policemen in Kumasi and Effiduase but bought the others at Asawase in Kumasi.

Prince Baah who according to ASP Tetteh, has been parading himself as a police officer for about a month, met his water loo after he stole ¢20 from a lady he proposed to during the recent Eastern Region Trade Fair.
The lady who became suspicious of his character reported him to another police officer. A follow-up on the issue led to his arrest.
Further investigations revealed that during Prince Baah’s parade as an officer, he met a genuine policeman at Nkurakan who asked for his help in the arrest of a suspect.
It was when the ‘fellow’ policeman inquired of his station, that Baah told him he works in Asawase in Kumasi but was on leave in Koforidua.
