Its no longer news that Prempeh College won the 2017 edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) challenge. The Ashanti based school beat defending champions Adisadel College and 2013 champions St. Thomas Aquinas, in the grand finale of the quiz held at the National Theatre in Accra on June 29, 2017.

Prempeh had 53 points at the end of the competition, while Aquinas had 51 points and Adisadel College with 31 points. The final stage of the competition saw an intense battle between the bests of the bests.
For winning the 2017 edition of the NSMQ, Prempeh College received GHC40,000 and packages from Tigo and GCB Bank. For 2nd place, St. Thomas Aquinas SHS got GHC30,000 and packages from Tigo and GCB Bank while Adisadel College got a cash prize of GHC20,000 and packages from Tigo and GCB Bank.

Why are they called Amanfoﬤ?
The name Amanfoﬤ goes a long way to emphasise the values and principles of the school. It was coined from “Oman pa fapem ne obrapa” the original motto of the college which translates as “Good citizens make a good nation”
Amanfoﬤ is then a familiar name used to describe both past and current students of the school; individuals who have been brought up in the way of hard work, integrity and good morals -attributes of good citizens. The original motto was however amended to “Suban Ne NimdeƐ” – Character and Knowledge in 1964.
Prempeh boys are identified with a dark-green coat (or college blazer), the college cloth, striped college tie and green shirt. The school accommodates up to 2000 students who live in the boarding houses.

Fondly called the greatest school in Ghana, Premepeh College is an all-boys boarding school in a suburb of Kumasi, Ashanti, Ghana, founded in 1949 by the King of Ashanti, (Asantehene) Sir Osei Tutu Agyeman Prempeh II. The school goes down in history as the first ever all boys school in the Ashanti region of Ghana.
The all-boys college won the maiden edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz in 1994. The school over the years have proved itself worthy and deserving of the prestigious title.
Prempeh is the only college with four wins in the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ). The all boys school won the NSMQ 1994 and 1996. Prempeh also won the 2015 edition of the NSMQ after beating Adisadel College and University Practice SHS.
Having beaten St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School and Adisadel College on 29th June, 2017, the school made its fourth win in the competition. Prempeh College is, however, one win behind Presbyterian Boys who have won it 5 times.
Prempeh College is the first Secondary institution in Ghana and the whole of Africa, to win the world Robofest 2016 or World Robotics competition. Prempeh that year, beat China, Japan, and other international giants.
Prempeh College is the only high school from Ashanti region to have won the National Debate Championship in 2004.
Some notable alumni of the school include; Dr Kwabena Dufuor, former governor of Bank of Ghana, Agyemang Badu Akosah, the former president of Ghana Medical Association and director-general of the Ghana Health Service, President of Ghana; Yeboah-Amoah, CEO of The Ghana Stock Exchange; Prof. S. K. Adjepong, former vice-chancellor of the University of Cape Coast and principal of the Methodist University College, and zillions of others.
