Defiled-4-year-old -The young man who allegedly molested a four-year-old girl at Assin Adadientem in the Central region has been arrested.
The 18-year-old suspect known as Kwabena was arrested by the police on Sunday according to the Director of Public Affairs, Ghana Police Service, DSP Shiella Abayie-Buckman.
Investigations are still ongoing according to DSP Shiella, who also noted that the suspect is currently in police custody.
The police have also received the medical report on the examination of the victim. The father of the boy had delayed police investigations as he didn’t cooperate with the police at first.
The 4-year-old rape victim met her greatest horror when the culprit Kwabena took her to a secluded place, forced his manhood into her and warned her not to mention the act to anyone.
Her mother took notice of the act when her little girl protested while she was bathing her upon her return because of the severe pains she was feeling. It was then that she narrated to her mother what happened.

Attempts to bring Kwabena to book were initially hampered when he was allegedly cleared of any wrongdoing by the ‘gods’ of Adadientem through the local chief.
In search of justice, mother of the defiled 4-year-old, Madam Nyarko reported the issue to the chief of the area. However, the chief said the community deity declared Kwabena, the suspect innocent of the act and that no action could be taken against him regarding the alleged offense.
The incident sparked public outrage and when further reports emerged that the town is notorious for rape and defilement cases that go unpunished, Police renewed their interest in the case of the four-year-old girl.
The case involving the alleged defilement of the little girl also led to various forms of protests by different activist groups.
The action of the chief sparked public anger with a section of the public also protesting police’s lukewarm response towards the case even while the victim fought for her life at the hospital.
The Alliance for Women in Media Africa (AWMA) had petitioned the Director General of the CID to transfer the case involving the alleged defilement of the four-year-old girl to the national police headquarters in Accra.
When civil society and the media started mounting pressure on authorities to take action, Kwabena had gone into hiding until his arrest on Sunday by the Central Regional Police Command
The defiled-4-year-old from Assin Adadientem has been relocated with her family. The move, according to the Member of Parliament for Assin South Constituency, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour is to ensure their security.
