Asiedu Nketia attacked -Reports have been making rounds in the media that some unidentified armed men attacked the General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia on the Suhum-Kumasi highway on Monday, August 28, 2017.
Confirming the reports, the NDC loyalist on Asempa FM’s Ekosi Sen, said he witnessed the attack on a motorist by some armed men on his way to Accra from his village in the Brong Ahafo Region.

According to him, the men who were in a Toyota Tundra vehicle with registration number GT 666 12 sped past him to stop a vehicle that was ahead of him just around the Suhum Township.
The armed men came down and grabbed the driver, which was when Nketia got out of his vehicle together with a friend to intervene and rescue the driver.
Mr. Nketia’s experience in Suhum comes months after the government put in place measures to stem the tide of attacks across the country after the 2016 general elections.

Mr. Asiedu said he wasn’t and is still not sure whether the men were armed robbers because none of them made any attempt to rob him of money or other valuables. He also said none of the persons he’s was traveling with suffered any injury during the scary attack.
The incident also takes us back to the horrifying Auto Crash which nearly took the life of the NDC loyalist.
Asiedu Nketia who was earlier involved in a ghastly motor accident, was heading to Kumasi in a convoy with other party officials when they rammed into a taxi, wrecking their car beyond repairs. Mr. Nketia, fortunately, came out unhurt.
Was Asiedu Nketia attacked or just threatened? This question which has been running through the minds of many will form the agenda for a meeting called for by the leadership of the NDC.
The recent report prompted the NDC to scheduled an emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Tuesday, August 29, to discuss issues of security across the country.
At the meeting, the NDC’s NEC will discuss the incident and how to avoid a recurrence in the future.
