Three people are reported to have died instantly on Boxing Day at Adjakaa, a suburb of Enchi in the Western Region after a motor rider with two pillion riders ran into a stationary truck.
According to the Western Regional Director of the Motor Traffic and Transport Directorate of the Ghana Police Service, Chief Superintendent Richard Appiah, the accident occurred at 7:04 PM on Tuesday, December 26 after the driver of a Hyundai mighty vehicle with registration number GS 1330-11 ran out of fuel on reaching the outskirts of Adjakaa.
The driver, David Boateng, 34, parked the Adwumapa Buying Company Ltd vehicle, which was loaded with 70 bags of dried cocoa beans, at the offside of his lane.
Not long after that, the unregistered Apsonic motor bike ridden by one Stephen Martey, 32, alongside pillion riders Solomon Addo, 19, and David, 28, ran into the rear side of the vehicle with all three dying on the spot.
The bodies have been deposited at the Enchi Government Hospital, pending autopsy.
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle is currently in police custody after reporting himself and his vehicle has been impounded.
