Dean of The Center for International Education and Collaboration, UPSA Prof Goski Alabi
Dean of The Center for International Education and Collaboration of the University of Professional Studies, UPSA, Prof Goski Alabi, has challenged Vice Chancellors of the private Universities to oppose any form of intimidation from the accreditation councils and affiliate Universities that undermines quality education.
At her inaugural lecture on the topic, “Quality of Higher Education In Ghana; the Key Issues”, Prof Alabi said Ghana’s educational reforms which robs students who attain grade ‘D’ the joy of attaining higher education should be reviewed because there is no substantial evidence to suggest that people with such grades are not capable of university education.
She said the assumption that students with excellent entry grades and academic staff with good credentials translate into quality education is misguided.
Prof Alabi said there should be a comprehensive study into the issue and called on the National Council For Tertiary Education, NCTE, to provide the people of Ghana the basis of the grade ‘D’ requirement.
