Ebony’s driver (Name withheld) has narrated the circumstances preceding to the tragic accident that claimed the lives of the singer, bodyguard and her PA.
The ‘Maame Hwe’ crooner died in a motor accident at Nyame Bekyere near Abesim in the Brong Ahafo Region Thursday night.
The jeep with registration number AS 497-15 in which Ebony was travelling rammed into a VIP bus.
Two other passengers including a uniformed military officer on board the jeep who’s said to be her bodyguard also died. The driver is, however, said to be receiving treatment at the Bechem Government Hospital.
The driver who survived the ghastly accident narrated how the accident occurred to Adom Tv on his hospital bed.
According to the driver, the accident happened all because he had tried to save a Sprinter Bus from crashing but ended up colliding with the VIP Bus.
He said the Sprinter after engaging in the dangerous overtaking ‘gave him [Ebony’s driver] light’ which is an indication for him to give way.
After swerving for the Sprinter to make way, Ebony’s driver said, he realized there was a heap of sand which he tried also to swerve.
He added that swerving the heap of sand close to the road only became necessary because he initially had given way to a speeding Sprinter Bus which had engaged in a ‘wrong overtaking’.
In his bid to avoid crashing into the heap of sand by the road, the Jeep slid into the path of the oncoming VIP leading to a head on collision.
The four occupant of the Jeep were sent to Bechem Government Hospital, where Ebony, Frankky (her PA) and Francis Atsu (Bodyguard) were pronounced dead on arrival.
