More than 25 houses at Kalande in the East Gonja Municipality have been destroyed by rainstorm which swept through the town on Friday.
Over hundred residents have also been rendered homeless.
According to the Unit Committee chairman in the affected community, Attah Dominic, the incident happened in the evening and lasted for more than an hour.
“The rainstorm started around 7:30pm and has destroyed more than 25 houses. As you can see, our house has been ripped off wounding a girl of 13 years and we don’t have anywhere to lay our heads so we are appealing to government to support us” he said.
Another victim of the rainstorm, Karim Ayi said the rainstorm has not only destroyed her house but also destroyed books of her children. She lost her husband about five months ago.
Madam Ayi is therefore appealing to cooperate institutions, individuals and government to help her get the books for her children to continue their education.
Meanwhile, the East Gonja Municipal NADMO Coordinator, Mr. Ibrahim Alhassan says his outfit was still accessing the damage caused by the rainstorm as at Sunday. He however assured the victims that government will give them the necessary support.
Most of the victims are now putting up with family members and friends.
