President Akufo-Addo has charged the police to work assiduously to bring those behind the gruesome murder of Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama to book.
According to him, we need a country where the rule of law must work thus “with me in the seat, I will give meaning to it”.
President Akufo-Addo who is out of the country made the comment following the arrest of some suspects of the crime.
A Cape Coast District Court on Thursday June 1 remanded into police custody the seven persons suspected to have played roles in the brutal killing of the Commander of an Army detachment.
The suspects – William Baah (Assemblyman of Denkyira-Obuasi), Bismark Donkor, Phillip Badu, Kofi Nyame, Anthony Amoah and Kofi Badu – are alleged to have participated in the lynching of the officer at Denkyira-Obuasi and will remain in custody for two weeks. The identity of one other suspect is yet to be ascertained.
The Court, presided over by Justice Rita Amoanyiwa-Edusah, remanded the suspects into police custody upon the request by prosecution officer, ASP Hilarious Avornyo.
Nana Akufo-Addo who expressed his deepest condolence to the family of the late Maxwell Mahama and assured justice will be served.
