The Women in Law and Development in Africa (WiLDAF Ghana) has congratulated Justice Sophia Akuffo on her elevation to the position of Chief Justice of Ghana.
WiLDAF believes she will live above reproach and serve as “a positive role model to women and girls.”
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo announced Mrs. Akuffo as the next chief justice last week, as Mrs. Georgina Wood gets set to retire June 8, 2017.
“It is our hope that she will use her new position to advance women and girls rights issues when she is approved by Parliament and continue to serve as a positive role model to women and girls,” WiLDAF said in a statement while praising the president for his confidence in a woman to hold that position.
