The death of Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama has left the nation in a state of distress and one person who has been heavily affected is the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako.
The NPP Chair who is known to be outspoken has confessed to Peacefmonline.com that he was broken and wept after observing some videos and images portraying the gruesome murder which took place at Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region.
It is on this note that he has warned the “heartless politicians” in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) not to attempt to make capital out of the unfortunate incident.
Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, pointed out that it was completely needless and wrong for the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia to attribute the death of the Captain Mahama to President Nana Akufo-Addo.
The NDC scribe has said the gruesome murder happened “under the direct supervision of President Akufo-Addo”.
According to him, ever since President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC handed over a peaceful Ghana to President Akufo-Addo’s NPP on the 7th January, 2017, the nation has known no peace.
“From the beating up of a serving police officer at the Flagstaff House to the beating up of a Regional Security Co-ordinator, the disruption of a court process, the burning of toll booths, and the molestation of civil servants, the lawless culture of impunity has now reached the doorstep of the Ghana Armed Forces,” he has claimed.
But in responding to his claims, Chairman Wontumi wondered if the NDC scribe “really thinks”.
“The death of this innocent soldier is new in the minds of his families and all Ghanaians. But we have an adult who is supposed to put on his thinking cap all day talk foolishly like Asiedu Nketia. What really happened to our morals?
We have been educated to respect the dead but Asiedu Nketia has no respect for him and the president. All he seeks achieve is to make the NDC aware that he still hasn’t lost his folly and stupidity that lead them into opposition last year”.
In expressing his condolence, Chairman Wontumi stated that “my deepest sympathies go out to the family of Mahama. May God give you (Captain Mahama) the comfort and peace that you seek and may the soul of your loved one rest in peace.”
