Dismissed Medical Director of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, hitherto known as Ridge Hospital, Dr Thomas Anaba, says the Minister of Health completely erred in relieving him of his post.
He has therefore declared to “put an eagle eye” on Kwaku Agyemang-Manu “or else he will cause another blunder”.
Dr Anaba has been unhappy with his dismissal from the referral facility on Monday, May 15.
He was asked to hand over to Dr Emmanuel Kwabla Srofenyoh.
But in an outburst on 3FM‘s Sunrise on Tuesday, May 16, Dr Anaba said due process was not followed in the termination of his appointment.
He said the Public Services Commission was not consulted by the Minister of Health, whom he solely blames for the decision to truncate his appointment.
On Wednesday, May 17 at the opening of the refurbished section of the Hospital to the public, Mr Agyemang-Manu said Dr Anaba did not possess any managerial skills to head the health facility.
The former lawmaker said he rather reassigned Dr Anaba to his previous post of lecturer at the University of Development Studies (UDS).
But speaking to 3FM‘s Stephen Anti on News Hour Wednesday evening, an impassioned Dr Anaba said the Minister is as incompetent as reassigning him from the Ministry of Health to the Ministry of Education.
He said if President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo does not watch Mr Agyemang-Manu, he will disgrace his government.
“I will put an eagle eye on him or else he will cause another blunder,” Dr Anaba said, adding that “the Minister is flouting administrative procedure or he is ignorant about them”.
He said writ of summons have been distributed to parties cited in his legal suit but the Minister may not have received his on Wednesday because “I am sure he was at the fanfare”.
“He has demonstrated to be highly incompetent.”
Health Minister Agyeman-Manu in his interview with 3FM‘s Sarah Parku said nowhere in Dr Anaba’s CV has it been stated that he possesses management skills.
But Dr Anaba says he demonstrated his management skills at his interview for employment before being appointed on February 1, 2016 for a four-year tenure with an option to re-apply.
He justified how education sometimes contributes little to achievement, saying many great businessmen have not even gone to school.
Dr Anaba says he will not want to return to a “rotten” Ridge Hospital but will want to see justice to be done.
