A former Trade and Industry Minister, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah says it will not be surprising if President Nana Akufo-Addo serve only a term in office.
According to the former presidential hopeful, it is obvious the current administration has failed to show commitment in delivering the promises they made to Ghanaians including: fighting corruption, maintaining law and order and protecting the public purse.
However, they have shown signs of incompetence and will be serving only a term in office.
On security, law and order, he said, pro-NPP vigilante groups including the Invisible Forces, Delta Force continue to be lawless because the president lack the will to disband them.
These groups he asserted have been loyal to the president and so he [Nana Addo] feels unsafe to disband them. ‘’The president doesn’t want to disband the Invisible Force, he doesn’t want to disband the Delta Force because these are people giving him protection.
A member of Parliament dared the police to arrest members of these groups and so it tells you the lawlessness in the country.’’ Ghanaians he lamented are currently feeling insecured under the current administration. He further took a swipe at the president for appointing 110 ministers despite his resolve to cut spending and save the country money.
The number of appointees he noted will put a strain on our resources and Ghanaians are gradually becoming disappointed in the Nana Addo led administration. ‘’Ghanaians are beginning to slowly see the manifesto promises by the NPP and what the reality is.’’
When asked to comment on claims by former president Rawlings, and founder of the NDC that corruption and greed caused Mahama’s defeat, he declined to do so and told the host he will only wait till the Kwesi Botchwey’s report is presented to the party before making any further comment on it.
The founder he stressed is entitled to his submission but will not state any opinion on what caused their defeat until the report comes out.
