YESTERDAY, Today newspaper, in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications (MoC), successfully organised the 4th Annual Today Lecture Series. It was on the theme: “Using Digital Technology To Accelerate Business Growth.”
IN attendance were bankers, representatives from the various security agencies, government and private institutions, telecos, students among many others.
IT must be stated that the patronage of the event was impressive and one that tells the Editorial Team of Today of the importance people, especially the business community, attach to digital technology.
CLEARLY, as a country, we cannot afford to lose out on the inherent advantages of digital technology to the growth of businesses—whether on small scale or large scale.
OUR three speakers on the day—the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Vodafone Ghana, Yolanda Cuba; IT Professional, Kwasi Boakye-Akyeampong; and General Manager, Micro-Enterprise, GN Bank, Kofi Asamoah—all underscored the fact that digital technology has the potential to transform our businesses, and by extension the economy of this country.
WHILE underscoring this fact, they unanimously agreed that there was the need to have in place strong security systems to ward off hackers.
FOR us at Today, the above is critical, especially when hackers, are taking advantage of the fast growing technological world to swindle businesses almost on daily basis. Day-in-day-out, we hear reports of hackers stealing whopping sums of monies from banks and other businesses.
THIS, therefore, makes it imperative for businesses—both public and private—to put in place stringent security measures to deter fraudsters whose stock-in-trade is to milk businesses dry.
AND it is therefore in respect of the above that Today wishes to thank the three speakers for its 4th Annual Today Lecture. We must say that their presentations were really on point as they dealt insightfully with their respective subjects.
OUR special thanks go to the Minister of Communications, Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, whose outfit collaborated with us and who also delegated one of her deputies—Hon. George Andah, to sit in her stead, not forgetting ace journalist and Board Chairman of National Communication Authority (NCA), Kwaku Sakyi-Addo, who chaired the event.
AND to all the participants during the 4th Annual Today Lectures, we say thank you for gracing the occasion.
