Ghana Football giants Asante Kotoko were involved in a fatal motor accident on their return to Kumasi on Wednesday, July 12.

The gruesome accident occurred when the bus of the Ghanaian giants was returning to their base on Wednesday night after their 1-0 league defeat to Inter Allies. The team vehicle reportedly ran into a loaded truck with registration number AS 7329-13 parked on the side of the road.
The collision resulted in a crash which injured many of the passengers and left one dead.
The coach Steven Pollack and his assistant Godwin Ablordey were trapped in the mangled bus. It had taken close to an hour for fire personnel and the police to cut the bus to rescue them. Most of the players sustained injuries on the forehead and other parts of their bodies.
The captain of the Porcupine Warriors Amos Frimpong, Baba Mahama, and defender Ahmed Adams, sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the Holy Family Hospital at Nkawkaw for treatment.
There has been a death case from the gory accident. Kotoko’s deputy equipment officer Kofi Asare has been confirmed dead after the fatal accident on Wednesday night at Nkawkaw. Mr Asare died after sustaining severe injuries from the gruesome accident. The Premier League Board Representative of the club Thomas Boakye-Agyemang sadly confirmed the news to the media, following his demise.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) have sympathised with the giant club and have as well, offered their support. The GFA and the entire football fraternity have been devastated by the sad development.
Prayers and get-well messages have been pouring in from sympathisers and fans of the Ghana football giants. Moreso, other local clubs as well as notable players of Ghana’s national team have sent in condolences and goodwill messages to the club.
