The District Chief Executive (DCE) nominee for North Tongu District Assembly in the Volta Region, Mr. Richard Collins Arku, has received a 100 per cent endorsement from the Assembly members at an election held on Thursday, July 13, 2017.
Mr. Arku polled 42 votes of the total 42 votes cast; making him the second substantive DCE who has been endorsed to run the administrative affairs of the North Tongu District Assembly .
In his victory speech, Mr. Arku implored stakeholders in the area to bury their differences and join forces with him to fast-track development in the district.
He promised to introduce innovative interventions to improve agriculture activities and proposed establishing a food processing factory in the district under the NPP government’s one-district, one-factory policy.
Mr. Arku also assured that he would intensify education and advocate for by-laws to be passed to enhance sanitation and security in the district.
Additionally, he said: “I will make sure all communities, especially all the villages and towns along the banks of Rivers Volta and Akrakpa get access to adequate potable water and connect to the national grid.”
For their part, the chiefs and people in the traditional areas within the district urged the DCE and assembly members to complement each other’s efforts towards developing the district.
“You must work hard so that the one-district, one-factory policy of the NPP government is implemented in your district,” they also advised the new DCE.
Mr. Arku is a Financial Accountant and a Stand-Alone Solar Energy expert.
