Shatta Wale’s 33rd birthday is about bringing something big his way…
Self-acclaimed King of African Dace Hall, Charles Nii Amah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale turned 33 yesterday – Tuesday, October 17, 2017. Birthday wishes have been pouring in to celebrate the artiste via different media platforms.

However, none of the myriad of birthday wishes is making the kind of buzz the one from the President has been making on media platforms. And you may ask why? Here’s the reason:
In his usual care-free manner, the Dance Hall King did not sit down praying and hoping to receive birthday wishes from the first citizen of Ghana, he went calling for it!
After all, they say that if Mohammed didn’t go to the mountain, the mountain can come knocking at Mohammed’s door. Although in Wale’s case, Mohammed didn’t want to take the chance of waiting for the mountain to come visiting, he ran to it early enough without hesitation.
What are we talking about? Shatta Wale took to twitter on Friday, October 13th to inform President Nana Addo that Tuesday, October 17 will be his birthday, asking the President what he will be expecting from him. He wrote:
“Your excellency tuesday is my birthday ..what are you giving me ..@NAkufoAddo”
This call for attention made no media buzz until Nana Addo took to his own twitter handle Tuesday evening, to wish Shatta Wale a Happy Birthday and to suggest a visit to his home. More interestingly, the President who once said he is a big fan of Shatta Wale, sent across the message in the most casual and informal manner – he used pidgin. The President wrote:
“Happy birthday @shattawalegh! You for come visit me for Flagstaff House o!”
Shatta Wale who was highly elated by the gesture, quickly responded to the President’s message saying:
Wale didn’t stop there. He tweeted again saying:
He finally thanked President Nana Addo and said he will follow due protocols to pay him a visit soon, adding that he will be expecting to receive a land cruiser.
“Thank you your Excellency. I will follow the necessary procedures and pay a visit soon Mr. President. I hope my land cruiser will be ready.”
This is however, not the first time Shatta Wale is jokingly demanding a land cruiser from Nana Addo. Recall that on his 32nd birthday last year, ahead of the 2016 elections, the Dance Hall King also dropped a similar request in which he said he was expecting a land cruiser and an envelop from then President Mahama and his opponent Akufo-addo.
Also recall that ahead of the elections, both Nana Addo and Mahama expressed their likeness for the ‘Taking Over’ hit-maker. While Nana said he is a big fan of Shatta, Mahama said he loves ‘Kakai’, one of the Dance Hall King’s hit tracks.
Meanwhile, all eyes and ears are currently open to see and hear what the President will make of Shatta Wale’s 33rd Birthday request at the end of the day.
It is also good to note that Shatta Wale also received a birthday wish from his fellow Dance Hall star and long time beef partner, Stonebwoy.
