The Member of Parliament for Tema Central constituency in the Grater Accra Region, Kofi Brako says the current Black Stars players lack commitment to play for the nation.
The MP who is enthusiastic about sports made this assertion when he was asked about his view on why the senior national team has not won any major trophy for the nation since 1982.
He was speaking at a youth tournament dubbed “SKF meet the World Cup” organised at his constituency to unearth young talent within the Tema metropolis.
“The current players in the Black Stars lack commitment, they are interested in money than to play for the nation and if this continues, the nation will never see an African cup or a world cup trophy won by the Stars”.
He noted that no matter how much a player is paid, it would not be sufficient for him, hence the need for them to be committed to the national cause, which he said will see the country winning trophy soon.
The MP also blamed journalists for the dismissal of Kwesi Appiah in 2015 as the coach of the national team.
“Kwesi Appiah exhibits good human relations. I believe journalists were part of the reason why he was sacked. They had no reason to sack him.
“I am elated, we are praying for him that with his second stint as the coach of the Black Stars he will prove his worth, so that an expatriate coach for the Black Stars will be a thing of the past”.
