Fans were thrilled at the Nungua junction mall in Accra on Saturday July 3, 2017 by cyclists who participated in the annual Cowbell Cycling challenge.
The challenge which is the flagship race of the Cycling Federation of Ghana in collaboration with Promasidor Ghana Limited under its Cowbell brand seeks to unearth, mould and shape talent to compete globally.
The competition which started at 9am at the Black Stars Square (Independence Square) went through some principal streets of Accra, through Teshie to Tema and then Back to Accra before finally ending the 84 kilometres race at the Junction Mall at Nungua.
At the end of the race, 19 year old cycling sensation Frank Akuffo won a sprint finish to clinch the 84-kilometre challenge.
Akuffo, beat Isaac Sackey (who finished second) and the other teammates when he crossed the finish line first at Teshie Mobil in a time of one hour, 57 minutes and 23 seconds.
Sackey, who finished in second place was trailed by Emmanuel Sackey, Lawrence Agyei and Steven Kabu in third, fourth and fifth place respectively.
The first fifteen athletes were given mountain bikes each, jerseys, products from cowbell and a cash prize.
