An Accra High Court has discharged 13 more suspects in the murder trial of Major Maxwell Mahama by residents of Dekyira Obuasi in the Central region in May this year.
This follows an earlier discharge of some 32 others earlier in June after investigations found no credible evidence against them. The police said some of the discharged 13 would be used as witnesses in the trial.
Meanwhile 13 other suspects are on the run and wanted by the police in connection to the murder.
This leaves 19 more suspects including one woman in police grips who would be going through the trial process. In all, almost 60 suspects were arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of Major Mahama who was on duty in the town with his colleagues.
He was lynched by the town folk who allegedly mistook him for an armed robber, a claim many have disputed.
