Atsu at Newcastle, is currently faced with the challenge of working on his form in order to prove he truly deserves a place at St James Park as well as the EPL.
Newcastle United Coach Rafael Benitez has expressed uncertainty over Christian Atsu’ ability to rise to what is expected of him in the English Premier League (EPL).
Coach Benitez made the doubtful disclosure while speaking to The Chronicle on the actual reason behind his decision to sign the Ghanaian midfielder. According to the Magpies Boss, Atsu’s signing fee was quite cheap compared to what is generally obtainable in the transfer market.

He however said he does not know if the 25-year-old would live up to expectations during his stay at the St James Park. But the Tyneside manager was quick to add that Atsu has improved and will willing to learn and improve the more.
“Can he be at the level that we need for him to do ‘this’ or ‘that’? I don’t know, but he’s someone that you know has improved and will keep improving because he’s keen to learn.
Christian Atsu permanently moved to Newcastle on Wednesday, 24th May, 2017, after a long loan spell with Premier League giants Chelsea.

The talented midfielder who joined Conte’s side in 2013 was never given an opportunity to play for the Blues as he was constantly sent on loan to other clubs including Vitesse, Everton, Bournemouth, Malaga, and finally to Newcastle in the 2016/2017 season.
His loan to Newcastle was however, favourable as his contributions significantly helped Benitez’ side to emerge the Sky Bet Champions at the end of the season, thus influencing his permanent signing to the club.
Since his permanent move to Newcastle, Christian Atsu has made seven appearances in the Premier League, scoring one goal and making one assist. Atsu at Newcastle, is however, still faced with the challenge of further developing himself to prove he truly deserves a place in the Tyneside squad as well as the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United is currently ninth on the Premier League table, with 10 points from seven matches, and just three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
