Reverend Charles Owusu Ampofo, the Vice President of the Ministers Conference of the Ghana Baptist Convention, has called on Christians to avoid seeking earthly comforts and worldly passions.
“We must rather endeavour to support the building of the Kingdom of God,” he said.
Reverend Ampofo said serving God is accompanied with sufferings and Christians who only sought for earthly desires deceived themselves and would not escape judgment.
He said this during a send-off party held for Reverend Charles Oppong Poku, a pastor promoted to head the Mid Sector of the Church in Kumasi.
Reverend Ampofo said worldliness has gradually eaten into the Christianity and many Christians are backsliding.
He said “serving God must not be a voluntary decision but rather compulsory to every believer” adding that Christians who actively participate in church activities would obtain eternal rewards.
Reverend Poku expressed appreciation to members of the church for both material and spiritual support they provided to his family during their stay in Sunyani.
He urged the church to stay united so that the Kingdom of God would grow from strength to strength.
