Stonebwoy’s response to Shatta Wale’s snub on his nomination for this year’s BET awards is more mature than you ever expected!
Dance hall musician, Stonebwoy has said that he does not care to receive a congratulatory message from his fellow dance hall artiste, Shatta Wale. His comments are coming at the heels of public condemnation of the latter’s failure to send across a goodwill message to Stonebwoy who was nominated to represent Ghana at the 2017 Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards.
Per the nominations, Stonebwoy will be competing with Wizkid (Nigeria), Davido (Nigeria), Tekno (Nigeria), AKA (South Africa), Nasty C (South Africa), Mr Eazi (Nigeria), and Babes Wodumo (South Africa) for this year’s award.
Speaking in an interview with Doreen Andoh on Joy Fm’s Cosmopolitan Mix, Stonebwoy said that he has been receiving complimentary messages from fans and Ghanaians across the world via different social media platforms. He said he is okay with them and does not need that of the self acclaimed dance hall king.
Stonebwoy who had earlier expressed worry on the fact that Ghana received only one nomination in this year’s BET Awards via his Instagram page, lamented the level of disunity in the country’s music industry. He pointed out that, in as much as the occasional beefs form part of the business, there is the need to have a professional approach.
“We don’t have to be friends but we should also remember that we are doing the same business… On the professional side of things, all things come together to make it work – the rumours, the fights – but how professional are we about that?” He queried.
Meanwhile, the 2015 BET winner expressed happiness and elation over his current nomination. He however pointed out that he is “not filled with pride.”
Continuing, Stonebwoy recalled how he had called up Shatta Wale on stage at the 4Syte Music Video awards; all in the bid to promote unity. He noted that it takes a pro, as well as letting aside every other thing for one to be able to lead by such example.
Tapping his chest, Stonebwoy stressed that he is the first ever African artiste to win the BET Award, and so, anyone that tries to disregard his achievement is only showing how envious and weak he or she is; adding that during the long wait, he accepted the condition with silence and smiles.
Shortly after the 2017 BET Awards nominees were announced, several persons took to social media platforms to troll Shatta Wale for missing out on the awards once again this year. But reacting to the criticisms, Shatta Wale said he is not at all perturbed by his not making it to the BET nomination list. In a series of posts on Twitter and Facebook, he made a nonsense of the BET Awards, urging his fans not to worry about the development.

His comments however, received widespread condemnation from pundits and the general public who believed that the SM Boss should have at least shown some discipline by settling the long raging beef between him and Charterhouse, as well as his fellow musicians.
Many were also of the opinion that Shatta Wale should have managed to put aside his differences with Stonebwoy and congratulate him on his nomination. But as you have seen, the ‘Go Higher’ hit-maker says he does not need the ‘Taking Over’ hit-maker’s congratulatory message; so, case closed!
