The Mim Carpenters Association in Asunafo North Municipal of the Brong Ahafo Region has repaired over 900 damaged furniture in four public schools for free.
The schools included the Adenkyekye R/C, Abeberese M/A, Nyankomago M/A, Basic Schools and Bediako R/C Cluster of Schools where pupils were seen to be lying on the floor to write.
The Association has been doing this for two months ago and has visited over 20 public schools in the municipality.
Mr. Albert Kwasi Adjei, the Chairman of the Association said to Citi News the exercise was to make the learning space for the children more comfortable.
“You know, when you get to the schools the children were seen either lying on the bare floor to write or they put their books on windows to write so we went to help them to get proper furniture to learn, though some were having damaged furniture.”
According to him, Nyankomago M/A situation was very bad, with even the staff working without tables and chairs.
Mr. Adjei therefore appealed to government and the Asunafo North Municipal Assembly to provide more furniture to schools in deprived areas.
He added that the association will soon extend the exercise to other districts in the region.
