Senior Pastor of Calvary Charismatic Centre in Kumasi, Pastor Ransford Obeng, has called for an enforcement of the law on perpetrators of the heinous attack and subsequent murder of Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama in Denkyira-Obuasi last week.
Adding his voice to the loud Ghanaian cry over the loss of the young military man, he said “let those who did that be brought to book so that somebody will not repeat it.”
“It doesn’t matter their political affiliation, I am appealing to the president that whoever was part of those who did the wicked act must be brought to book because the president has assured us he will deal ruthlessly with crime,” he stated painfully.
He was happy that for the first time both sides of Parliament have unanimously condemned the act which is something that is dear to the hearts of all Ghanaians.
“I add my voice and appeal to all the perpetrators to ask for forgiveness from God and never to repeat the act, and my prayer is that this should never be repeated anywhere in Ghana again,” he maintained.
Speaking to a cross-section of journalists at a blood donation exercise at the church premises to mark his 61st birthday, the renowned preacher said blood was life and hence he had made it a point to organise the exercise for the whole church and believers in Kumasi annually.
The event was the fourth time in a row the CCC which has more than one thousand membership had organised a blood donation for the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Blood Bank.
Pastor Obeng said anybody who loves God would give blood which is life and not rather make it flow out as the people of Denkyira-Obuasi did to the late young captain, insisting “those who take others’ lives do not understand the God they serve since he abhors taking human lives.”
To the military, he said it was only God who has the right to avenge anybody so they should leave whatever has happened in the hands of God, adding that “even surrounding and walking through the village last week was enough torment for the residents.”
