The Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North Constituency and Deputy Minister for Education, Barbara Asher Ayisi, has donated food and other items worth over GH¢10,000 to the Cape Coast North Islamic community.
The move was in support of the ongoing Ramadan fasting and prayers.
The donation, which was done at the Kate Apartment in Cape Coast North, was received by Imam Mohammed Sharif Ali on behalf of the 28 mosques in the Cape Coast North Constituency.
The donation was done on behalf of the MP and Deputy Minister by Mr George Ayisi, the MP’s husband.
Speaking to Onua FM’s Kwame Kakarba, Mr Ayisi said the MP’s gesture was to support the Islamic Community in the Cape Coast North Constituency and to also call on them to say a prayer for her constituency and Ghana as a whole.
“We seek prayers for NPP Cape Coast North, Central Region and Ghana. Pray for Ghana especially the President and his government,” Mr Ayisi stated.
Mr Ayisi said the Cape Coast North Constituency has become rapidly growing and fast expanding with the Muslims fraternity quite huge.
He expressed appreciation for the good work by Muslim leaders.
He said the MP assures of government support for Moslems in the country; hence the creation of Ministry for Zongo Development and Inner City and also the establishment of the Zongo Development Fund to ensure development.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Muslim community, Imam Mohammed Sharif Ali expressed their gratitude to the MP.
“We pray for the good health of the MP, the good people of Cape Coast, Central Region and Ghana as country.
“We also pray for Hon. Barbara Asher Ayisi, the NPP government especially Dr Mahamadu Bawumia and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.”
The Muslims pledged their continued support to peace and development in the Cape Coast North Constituency and Ghana at large.
The Ramadan fasting and prayers is expected to end on Saturday with the Eid-ur Fitr slated for Sunday June 25.
