Ghana Premier League champions Aduana Stars went down to a first half Mahmoud goal at Egypt’s Petro Sport Stadium, where they played Libyan side Al-Tahaddy in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League on Sunday.
The match was played in Egypt as a result of the political tension in Libya.
The Libyans hit the back of the net after 35 minutes from Moroccan referee Samir Guezzaz’s blast of the whistle for the start of the game.
The Ghanaians tightened their defense to keep their opponents at bay.
The second leg is scheduled to be played on Wednesday, February 21 in Dormaa, Ghana.
The winner of the two-legged tie will play either 2014 CAF Champions League winners ES Setif or Central African Republic’s Olimpic real de Bangui.
