About 130 persons suspected to be criminals have been arrested by the Central regional police command at Gomoa Budumbram in the early hours of Sunday, April 29.
Parcels of dry leaves believed to be cannabis, tramadol, and white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine among other things were retrieved from them.
The swoop and subsequent arrest of the suspects were made following intelligence gathered on some criminal activities in the Kasoa enclave of the Central region, Kasoa Divisional Police Commander, ACP David Agyeman Adjem, told the media Sunday morning.
According to the commander, the Sunday early morning swoop is just one of many to come, targeted at ridding Kasoa of criminals.
“To bring down crime in this area is to make sure that the place is unsuitable and unpalatable for the criminals in our midst., so we’re organizing a series of swoops in all the crime prone areas”, he said.
He added that out of the number arrested they have been able to identify a few who they have on their wanted list and the rest will later be profiled and investigated.
“So far we have identified about three or four of them who are on our wanted list and those who have cases with us that are in the court so afterwards we will profile the others and see if any of them have records with the police”, he noted.
ACP David Agyeman Adjem warned all criminals within the Kasoa enclave to either desist from their nefarious activities or move out of Kosoa. He also advised the public to give the police tip-offs anytime they suspect some criminal activity.
